How Open is Open?

I seem to have been made. Or maked.

Anyhow, it’s been brought to my attention that even though I’m giving away the schematics, because I place commercial restrictions on the unit it is not really open source hardware.

Hmm.

I’m not sure what to do. I want to be a hip guy loved by the throngs, but I don’t want to be screwed either. It’s not so much the money as the credit. So I can

  1. Leave it as it is, and change the license to an SGML deal
  2. Open it up and hope that people properly credit me
  3. Open it up and start actively making the boards
  4. Keep it closed and start making the boards

Thoughts?

Update - I’m leaning towards opening it up. A couple of folks have emailed me some nifty ideas. That I will elaborate on later. Thanks!
