Somatic SomaFM Widget (OS X)

I’ve been itching to make a widget, but I wanted to make one with purpose. This one has three.

Adds Doomed, always takes you to amazon, reduces the load on SomaFM. Please DL!!

(Older versions actually hit SomaFM too hard CPU wise).

Anyhow, about this little doodad:

  1. It tells you what songs have been played recently on any one of the seven Soma FM streams. Useful if you hear a song you like and want to know what it is and who it’s by.
  2. If you really like the song, click it and you’ll be taken to Amazon. If they have it, you can buy it, and a portion of the sale will go to support Soma FM.
  3. When you click on song, it appends the info to a file called “soma.txt” in your home directory.

NB: This is for Apple OS X and is Dashboard ONLY right now. Sorry Konfab users. If there’s enough demand I might try to port it. So drop a comment! I listen. Really.

Soma FM is a great internet station. Incredible variety, no ads. I’ve been listening since 2000 and it has introduced me to hundreds of artists. In fact, I’ve bought more albums since listening to it than I ever have before. I donate when I can, and hopefully this little widget will help Rusty et. al. maintain the station.
